WHERE AND WHO

GEDEB

This coffee coop. is located in the region of Yirgacheffe. In the cooperative now a days work more than 300 small farmer. Most farmers in the region farm on fewer than 5 hectares at 1750masl. In addition to remaining traditionally intercropped, most farms are also organic-by-default. Farmers in Gedeb typically use very few—if any—fertilizers or pesticides. He carry on the idea of good, sustainable and traceable cup of coffee.

CAIXA DA FRUTA

This coffee came from Rancho Grande farm in South of Minas region, Brasil. Jose Carlos Reis and his son Flavio run this farm from 30 years. The main goal is to produce high-quality coffees and taking care of the enviroment. Year by year the farm is evolving using the most advanced technique to reduce social and enviromental fingerprint. 

FROM THE CHERRY TO THE BEAN

This coffee is processed with the classic natural process. The whole cherries are lay on raised bed and exposed to the sun for 24 to 27 days depending on the weather. All the beds are covered with shade netting to protect the coffee during the hottest hours of the day. When the cherries achieve the correct moisture level are depulped and packed for the export.

ABOUT THE VARIETY

HEIRLOOM

Heirloom coffee is a compound phrase for several naturally occurring types of coffee found in Ethiopia. This term is commonly used to refer to local types, many of which are still present in the wild today. In this case the exact variety of this coffee is J.A.R.K 74/158, selected to for enhanced pest resistance and higher yields

ACAIA

Acaiá (also known as Acaia Cerrado) is a rare variety primarily found in Brazil. Its name, reportedly, means "large fruit" in the Tupi-Guarani language. Acaiá is a natural mutation of Mundo Novo, itself a natural hybrid of Typica and Bourbon. This variety has adapted well to the Brazilian climate and growing conditions, particularly excelling at altitudes of 800 meters above sea level or higher. Acaiá trees have a characteristic triangular shape that allows them to evenly capture sunlight.
